YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
AT MIDTOWN THE GARDEN DISTRICT NEIGHBORHOOD

SUMMER 2002
From June 10 through July 19, 2002 nine Tucson teens provided community service to the Midtown Neighborhood Association.
Tucson Youth Development hired the youth and their supervisor, Diane Wiener, to mentor and tutor the elementary school students at John B. Wright, to begin a resident asset mapping project, and to beautify the neighborhood through the armful decoration of mailboxes and chairs. The mailboxes will be used for fundraising and the chairs will serve the refugee community who participate in the activities at TIARC. Thanks to David Kha, Howard Ward, Martha Cooper, Amra Sabanic, Diana Olivares, Mary Melton, Janette McGovern, Cass Chadwick, all the teachers & staff at Wright, and the TIARC staff for helping to create such a successful program this summer.
