Biography of Mirek Edward (Szadkowski) and Linda Nunan

We have lived in the Midtown Neighborhood since 1982, when we rented a house on Pima St. We discovered that we were expecting our first child and decided to look for a house in this neighborhood.  Our son, Ian, was born in August of 1986 and we moved into our new home on Seneca St. in October of 1986.   Four years later our daughter Tess was born.   Ian will now be a sophomore a Tucson High School and Tess will be starting fifth grade at Lineweaver Elementary School.

Mirek was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1953 and moved to Queens in New York City in 1961.  In 1964, his family moved to Los Angeles, California and later to Edmonds, Washington in 1969.   After graduating from high school, he traveled around the Southwest and settled in Phoenix doing construction work. In 1977, he moved to Tucson to attend the University of Arizona.  In 1984, Mirek graduated with a degree in Architecture.  He began working for several architectural firms in Tucson.   In 2000, he decided the time had come to open his own practice, Renovation Architecture, operating out of his house.  When not working, Mirek enjoys playing tennis, shooting pool and card games.

Linda was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1957.  She attended Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana and received a B.A. in biology in 1978.  In 1979, she moved to Tucson and three months later met Mirek.  She has been working in various research positions at the University of Arizona since 1984.  Presently, she works in the Department of Veterinary Sciences and Microbiology with the Aquaculture Pathology group under the direction of Dr, Donald Lightner.  She works on diseases that affect farm raised shrimp.  The job has afforded her the opportunity to travel and she has been to Central America three times this year.  While working at the University, she was able to study part-time towards a degree in Landscape Architecture.  She received a M.L.A., in 1991, from the University of Arizona.  When time permits, she uses this degree to design water smart landscapes for residential and commercial sites.  When not working with shrimp or on landscape designs she enjoys swimming and gardening.
