Lisa listed several ways that residents could help out at JBW: collect pop tops for Ronald McDonald House (JBW placed 6th last year); Fry's "swipe card" (must renew from last year; for every $50,000 in receipts, JBW gets $500); Halloween Party (attend and/or volunteer to help with various booths/games, 6-8 p.m., 10/26/01); collect box tops (from General Mills products with "Box tops for Education" labels.

Larissa, JBW PTA President noted that the PTA Newsletter would be published on the website. Her main theme this year is communication. She invited all to attend PTA meetings held on 2nd Tuesday of the month. She encourage neighbors to come to next meeting to give input on 301 (bond) monies: the PTA is helping to set priorities

GUEST SPEAKERS:

Rebecca Wendling, Red Cross Community Relations Coordinator

Ms Wendling reviewed standard Red Cross emergency preparedness procedures and distributed handouts describing these procedures and Red Cross services.

Grace Evans, Citizens for Tucson's Future

Ms Evan introduced herself as one of several citizens on a committee of planners and development community representatives who are encouraging voters to approve Proposition 401. Under new state law, the votes in each City in the State must approve a General Plan. Ms Evans noted the new plan has 14 elements, and that the City website has a complete description of the plan and its elements. Ms Evans noted that this is a very general policy plan, and as such would not directly affect Midtown land uses. Ms Evans also related that the COT Plan has been through an extensive public input process and that if not approved this time, would have to be modified and re-submitted for voter approval.

· Brad Holland, MNA Bylaws Update

Brad noted that our Bylaws are general guidelines for running the Association and that due to recent concerns, they need some fixing. Brad noted that he had researched six local and two national bylaws documents and cobbled together some proposed changes to the MNA Bylaws. He distributed copies to the audience which contained the old wording along with the proposed changes. At 7:45 p.m., Brad started the official 7-day notice period for review. In reality, he noted input would be taken through next meeting. He suggested 10 minute discussion period to be followed by an up-or-down vote at the next MNA meeting.
