December Summary.

Not much to report except that we had a nice turn out. There was good food and good cheer accompanied by holiday songs played on the piano by none other than our own

Brad Holland. Velma Hidden, Bonnie Riley and Connie Tadeo were all honored for their

Service to Midtown. Several people participated in our annual cookie exchange. Neighbors welcomed back a faithful member of our association. Bonnie Cummings attended her first meeting in many, many months. Bonnie, you look great and we are glad

To have you back’.

Updates.

Computer Club/Bike Club: David Kha reported that the Computer Club and Bike Club are still going strong. Ten people have recently graduated from the Saint Vincent De Paul

Computer course that David helped to set up. The graduates received a certificate that can

Help them find jobs. David has taken his experience in Midtown and seeded a wonderful new program elsewhere.

Announcements.

Wright Nature Park: April Baison reports that there will be two work days at the park, Saturday, February 3. Everyone is invited to attend. The time will be used to install a concrete barrier to discourage Bermuda grass and the installation of two signs, one prepared by students welcoming visitors to the park and the other on fired tile designating

The various trees and plants in the garden. The tile sign will be painted by Angela Carrasco who first worked with our youth jobs program while she was Catalina High School.

2000 Trees by 2001: Anna Marie Patti reported 68 trees were planted during the November tree planting. Most of the trees were planted in our neighborhood trailer parks

where they really improved the appearance of the properties. So far we have planted over

800 trees and aiming for 2000. Anna Marie says that trees are still available to residents at $3.00 for a 5-gallon size, and that the trees this year were exceptionally large and healthy. If you would like trees please call Anna Marie at 881-0244.

Flower Angel Of The Month: Hal Burn’s Flowerland provides Midtown with a bouquet of flowers every month. The flowers are a way for one neighbor to thank another

Nursing Study: Janice Christ, RN is conducting a study through the University of Arizona’s College of Nursing. The study is examining in-home nursing care needs. Participants may complete the questionnaire in the privacy of their own home and
